DGU Boys Medal Play Championship 2011

On Thursday 30 June, 81 boys from 15 Clubs, took part in the first round of the Championship at Clober G.C., which also included a handicap competition. Played in good weather and on a well presented Course, the boys were attempting to be among the best 30 scratch scores (and those tying for 30th place) to advance to the second round on Friday 1 July.
At close of play, 36 boys with a scratch score of 75 or better qualified for day 2. CSS for day 1 was 65.
Handicap competition results were as follows:
First: J Downie, Clober G.C. - nett 56
Second: J Scott, Vale of Leven G.C. - nett 60
Third: K McHale, C’bank & Dist. G.C. - nett 61
Age Group 14 & under
First: L Reid Milngavie G.C.
Second: N Stewart Balmore G.C.
Age Group 15 - 16
First: C Stewart Vale of Leven G.C.
Second: C Drummond C’bank & Dist. G.C.
Age Group 17 - 18
First: A Hughes Hilton Park G.C.
Second: C Milligan Dullatur G.C.
On Friday, the qualifiers were again blessed with good weather and after the scores had been checked and verified, the 2011 Medal Play Championship results were as follows:
Winner: G Roger, Clober G.C. - 130 (67, 63)
Second: S Fitzsimmons, Windyhill G.C. - 133 (67, 66)
Third: R Johnson, Helensburgh G.C. - 133 (66, 67)
Fourth: L Reid, Milngavie G.C. - 138 (66, 72)
CSS for day 2 was 65
At a short Ceremony in the Clubhouse after the close of play, DGU President, Neil Morrison and Clober Club Captain, Kenny Hunter, were on hand to present the Championship Trophy to our worthy winner, Gavin Roger. (See photo).
